Northwest ISD

Located nine minutes from The Highlands, Northwest ISD (NISD) is one of the fastest growing school districts in the state attracting more than 1,400 new students each year. NISD spans 234 square miles and serves 14 communities in three counties. The District operates two comprehensive high schools, an accelerated high school, five middle schools, 17 elementary schools, a special programs center, and a community based youth residential program.

» Byron Nelson High School

Byron Nelson High School is a public high school located in Trophy Club, Texas about 20 miles north of Fort Worth, Texas, in Denton County and opened in August 2009. It is the second high school in the Northwest Independent School District. It cost around $96 million, making it one of the most expensive and state of the art high schools in the state. It is approximately 504,000 square feet, with a 32,000-square-foot courtyard in the middle. It is built along the property of the Army Corps of Engineers, along the edge of where Denton Creek flows into Lake Grapevine at the lake's southwestern corner.

» Medlin Middle School

Medlin Middle School is a comprehensive middle school campus for students in sixth through eighth grades. The school offers many opportunities for students to be involved in a variety of activities and successful in their endeavors. Medlin is recognized as a leading school with a winning tradition, including numerous honors.

» Justin Elementary School

Justin Elementary School is located in Justin, TX and is one of 14 elementary schools in the Northwest ISD District. It is a public school that serves students in grades PK-5.


Liberty Christian

Located 8 minutes from The Highlands, Liberty Christian School was established with a vision to offer an exemplary college preparatory education in a Christian environment. The student body includes Early Childhood Education (Ages 3-5), Lower School Grades (Grades K-5), Middle School Grades (Grades 6-8), and Upper School Grades (Grades 9-12). Liberty Christian School resides on a 76-acre campus with 110 classrooms and six science labs, three gymnasiums, a performance stage, weight and locker rooms, eleven computer labs, four mobile laptop labs, and two foreign language labs. Student enrollment has reached more than 1,250, with a staff of more than 170. It is our desire to help develop young people who will be the leaders of tomorrow, equipped with wisdom to face life and make right decisions.
